CHOOSING A CULTIVAR

Cannabis cultivars, also referred to as “strains,” are the various versions of the cannabis plant that have resulted from hundreds of years of cross-breeding, both by the forces of nature and the genetic manipulations of scientists and growers around the world.
Cultivar is a more appropriate term than strain when referring to the plants. Strains refer to different varieties of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, while cultivars are cultivated plants.
Different cultivars offer different effects, flavor profiles, resin production and cannabinoid profiles, among other differences. Each unique cultivar can present a specific experience unique to that plant.
The best way we remember this is, Indica strains will put you “In Da Couch,” meaning a more relaxing and sedative experience. Sativa strains will be more energizing and uplifting. Hybrids are a combination of both and in our experience, hybrids can vary greatly across that spectrum.
This is all personal preference, but Aroma, visual appeal, taste, effects, yield, terpenes, plant structure, just to name a few, are all factors to consider when picking a cultivar.
Oftentimes checking to see if other people have grown the cultivar and posted any information online about the grow cycle is what we have found to be most helpful once we have selected a cultivar that may interest us.

First Time Growers

While technically you can keep a clone alive in a starter block forever, it's highly recommended that you transplant your rooted clone as soon as possible.
Seeds are different, in that they can be stored indefinitely. We recommend leaving your seeds in the packaging and placing them in your refrigerator until ready to germinate.
There are several different kinds of growing medias available to growers at any scale. These range from soil to soilless medias (rockwool, coco, DWC) and you can use any growing media you wish to with our genetics.
Depending on whether you ordered regular seeds, feminized seeds, a rooted clone, or an un-rooted clone there are different processes we recommend following to ensure successful germination.
Please see our Grow Help page for more details.
Depending on your experience level we recommend ordering the right option to ensure you have a successful harvest.
Beginners should focus on seeds, as they are the original, most simple, most forgiving way to grow. Additionally, if you're only growing outdoors, we recommend using seeds as we can't guarantee a stress-free transplant from indoor-outdoor
If you're more experienced or want to try something else (hydroponics), consider starting from clone. Clones are a great way to get a head start in your harvest.
